Character Name: Illidan Stormrage
Series: Warcraft
Canon Point: patch 7.3
Character Age:Background: wiki-page!
Personality: Illidan is a very reckless and impulsive individual, and has a very overinflated sense of self-importance. Time and time again this has gotten him (and numerous others) in quite a bit of trouble, and each time he either disregards his fault in the matter, or puts the blame on someone else. Part of the problem is he believes his own ideas to be better than those of others, and feels that he must act alone (For example, going to go play double agent to demons without actually telling anyone he was going to do so- his people didn't really appreciate that). This doesn't mean that he is stupid by any means, and he has done some good with his actions, but he has done just as much bad because he ran ahead thinking only of his goals, without seeing the immediate consequences.
His impatience also helped put him on the path to his obsession to magic. Being born with amber eyes, he should have been gifted with a natural skill in druidism and nature magic had he pursued it further. But no, druidism took him more effort and felt tedious to him, and he instead dove into the more instantly gratifying yet volatile magics. Also he felt that it would impress Tyrande, a woman he had feelings for. Whenever he felt he could show off how clearly amazing he was to Tyrande, he even got more impatient and reckless with his decision making. Of course he never saw any problem in the decisions he made, and felt that Tyrande should be right impressed by his skills, oblivious to the fact that she found his obsession with magic was unsettling.
Despite his shortcomings, Illidan is indeed fearsome on the battlefield. He is clever in a fight, and quick on his feet despite his size, and tends to be unpredictable. He gets a thrill in fighting, and sees it as an opportunity to display his great power, and oh boy does he love a chance to show everyone just how amazing he thinks he is. He believes that only individuals can save themselves, and looks down on those who hold faith in the Light or the Naaru as he feels their faith has clouded their judgement (ie: Morality is for pansies). Unsurprisingly, Illidan is also one of the sorest of losers. He holds everyone to an almost childish double-standard, which some may also believe to be an onset of madness from the corrupting powers he has taken. For example, after his defeat at the hands of Arthas, and subsequent retreat to Outland, there is a point where he claims that "Not even Arthas could defeat me!" Which means that he either had rewritten the entire scenario in his head where he came out the victor, or by defeat he meant 'kill', in which case no, Arthas obviously did not kill him. However chances are if Illidan had come out the winner and Arthas had not perished, he would have stated he had outright defeated him. Perhaps it's even a bit of both madness and immaturity.
In regards to his dealings with people, Illidan isn't entirely averse to conversation, provided one doesn't mind the ego. He's eloquent and inquisitive, and when it comes to magic he's very knowledgeable. He's serious, stoic, and not one for joking around, unless it comes in the form of sarcasm. He doesn't take well to joking around either, and quickly grows exasperated with it. He likes to be efficient, focused, and to the point in his dealings with others, so he can move on with whatever agenda he's got himself set on. Despite being a somewhat smooth talker if he has to be, Illidan presents himself in a very intense and intimidating fashion. His movements are deliberate, and he often emphasizes them with his demon-like appendages, the wings especially, making him appear more menacing. Overall though, he prefers to remain a lone wolf rather than tarry on with others. He will if he has to, but he often feels others will only hinder him. As such, he doesn't really have much in the way of friends. He has allies with a common goal, his brother and his brother's wife who both pity and worry about him... and have probably had it up to the ceiling with him.
Illidan holds a deep seeded bitterness towards his brother, and while he had made some semblance of an effort to smooth things over, it didn't change the fact that his brother, Malfurion, married Tyrande, the woman Illidan loved. For years, Illidan went out of his way to throw his brother under the bus, and every time it was his brother who wound up outshining him. As during the Sundering, when the Well of Eternity, a great source of magic, was imploding. Malfurion was in a panic trying to think of a way to get Illidan, Tyrande, and himself to safety, every time saying things such as "We need to find a way out." or "Illidan can you get us out of here?". To which Illidan flatly responds something along the lines of, "I've already tried to teleport Tyrande and myself out. The magic is too much in flux, It's not working." and neither Malfurion nor Tyrande really react much to this, implying this sort of thing was a pretty common occurrence. It took him over 10,000 years to let this go, and only when Tyrande spelled it out for him, that she chose Malfurion over him because Malfurion drew upon his own strength, rather than constantly seeking out power to take for himself. It was at this point that Illidan finally understood, and while he had turned his back on his people for imprisoning him, he did what he could for Tyrande and (to a lesser extent) his brother, as he wanted the constant fighting to end. In what was most likely his one decent selfless act, he rescues Tyrande from a horde of undead, and returns her to Malfurion, and per his brother's wishes, exiles himself from Azeroth, instead heading to Outland where he expected to meet a grim fate.
(Spoilers for recent content in this paragraph)
Illidan also has a trademark habit of pulling stunts that can alter the course of their very world with little to no regret. He thinks only in terms of stopping the Burning Legion (with a side dose of magic addiction), and will stomp over as many lives as it takes to do so. One mistake, though not entirely his alone, caused the content of Azeroth to break apart, a large portion of it sinking to the bottom of the sea. He stole vials from the magic Well of Eternity before it imploded and sunk half the continent, so he could make a new one. This ultimately lead to two separate attempts to invade by the burning Legion, and all the destruction that entails. More recently, after facing death and then revival, he almost seemed like perhaps he had mellowed out. A little reckless perhaps, but he seemed to mostly shed the madness that plagued him in Outlands. That is, until he brought the demon homeworld within Portal distance of Azeroth. He was the only one that seemed pleased by this turn of events, needless to say.
All in all, years of imprisonment and corrupting magics only exasperated his already prominent flaws. He remains proud of his accomplishments, and sees little to glean from others, unless they carry a power he is yet unfamiliar with. He can be short-sighted and rush into things, which can cause others quite a headache. So while Illidan is not evil at the core, he remains an incorrigible bastard and a walking disaster just waiting to happen.
**As a note Illidan's personality has jumped wildly from different media since he's been written by a number of different people. Sometimes he's shown as being completely paranoid and mad, but then in a different part of the cannon that takes place later, he's lucid and calm. So his personality in his history section may seem odd an inconsistent- and that's because it is.
Powers/Abilities:

In Warcraft III he also just leaves a trail of felfire when he walks, and can walk on water. Doesn't really do anything, unless someone would be dumb enough to stand in it (Fire is generally bad).
He's also had his eyes replaced by Kil'Jaedan with some sort of magic feiry orb things. It's left him blind in the traditional sense, but granted him the ability to see magic in all it's forms. This allows him to see through deception such as beings impersonating humans, or pinpoint hidden demons and the like.
He's also capable of cloaking himself and others nearby him with some sort of stealth... thing. Presumably some kind of magic.
He can cast a spell to blind someone for as long as he wishes.
He can silence and root a person, but this is breakable if the person has a strong enough will.
He can communicate with his brother telepathically.
He can magically yoink someone to him with some magic hand thing. (It's a spell he casts in one of the books, where he suffered slightly from "and let's just throw him whatever handy spell he might need to make this very moment look really cool" at the hands of the author).
Power Nerfs (if applicable): Nerf however you see fit!
Inventory: Glaives of Azzinoth, blindfold, his ego, and pants.
Incentives: The destruction of the entire Burning Legion... well, he's got to try on that one. Otherwise Tyrande's safety will do.

[The feed came on to Illidan scowling at the device. He had no love for the odd little chattering rock, but realized it would be harder to get anything accomplished without it.]
I have sensed that a great many of you are gifted with... notable power. I wish to know more about it, and how you have attained it.
[Merely explanations alone weren't ideal, however. He wanted to see it, but he suspected many would cower if he were to make it a face-to-face encounter only..]
I would prefer to meet in person, but if feel you must use this little contraption then so be it.
◎ Third-Person Sample:
Illidan could feel the rush of a cool breeze as he pursued his target through an unfamiliar forest. He had been stalking the demon for some time now, and he let it catch on that it was being followed. Over the day it had started to grow more and more anxious as he stalked it. It panicked, fled, exhausted itself- and now it was weak and tired. Ready to be picked off.
He cloaked himself in shadow, and began to circle around the creature. He could see its power weakening, not that there had been much to begin with. But the city had left him restless, and he missed when he could simply relish in the hunt. Now, as much as he had enjoyed toying with his prey, it was time to finish the deed. He leaped into the air, and then quickly descended, embedding his glaive in the demon's skull. He saw the energy fade as its life diminished, and smirked.
"Pathetic."
He turned away, and was just about to head back to where he started, when something caught his attention. He turned to look over his shoulder, and grinned a broad toothy grin. The demon had somehow sprung back to life, now several times more powerful. This... this was proper sport. And there were questions! How had it come back? He had seen its power completely fade. And how had it swelled in power after doing so? Of course, his had already been explained to him to be some sort of 'game' to him, and of course he completely misinterpreted what they had meant by it. It seemed to him that he just would get teleported to one land or another, kill things, then get paid. A simple spell any mage of moderate skill could cast. The concept of a false reality went in one ear and out the other- actually no, it never quite made it through one ear in the first place. The explanation had been tedious, and time consuming, and filled with a bunch of gibberish that not even a gnome could make sense of. So he had stopped listening and demanded to be sent off to his mission.
And thus, Illidan engaged the empowered demon, under the assumption that he would be able to figure out the nature of its trickery. Blade met flesh when he lunged at the monster, it tried to retaliate, but Illidan was quicker. He feigned to the right, and struck again, dodged, struck once more. The process continued until the abomination was on its knees. He loomed over it, again watching its energy diminish.
"Is that all? All your parlor tricks and this is all you have to show for it? How terribly disappo-"
The next thing he knew, his surroundings vanished, and was soon replaced with new surroundings. He stood for a moment as he tried to adjust to the disorienting sensation, and glean where he was. The ruckus around him quickly clued him in, and his expression soured. He had been pulled back before he had finished with the demon.
"I had not told you to call me back, you dimwitted buffoons! That was my prey, and I am the one who decides when I am finished with it or not! Do I make myself clear?"
Someone rushed to him and quickly tried to explain to him how ViViD worked (again), but he simply turned and stormed out in the direction he vaguely remembered a door to be, disregarding the woman's explanation (again).

◎ Powers/Abilities:
List of his raid fight abilties
In Warcraft III he also just leaves a trail of felfire when he walks, and can walk on water. Doesn't really do anything, unless someone would be dumb enough to stand in it.
